Hydro Ness is a transformational project located on the banks of the River Ness. Enhancing historical infrastructure dating back to the 1920, this scheme aims to pay homage to the unique and varied history of the river, and its role in the development of settlements and its ability to support and nurture life. This hydroelectric scheme will provide a destination for people to visit and reintroduce the river as a valued asset to Inverness. The visitor experience hopes to inspire and empower people to learn more about important topics such as renewable energy and climate change. Acting as a STEM learning hub, the Hydro Ness will allow individuals to see how green energy in generated and its importance in our collective
journey to net zero.

The suite comprises of two tunes:

#1 - Slow Air: Allt Lòn an Dàim
A tune for one of the high tributaries of the River Ness. Allt Lòn an Dàim means 'the burn of the wet meadow of the dam', and joins another stream Allt Ourie, which after a while becomes the Dochfour burn, and later flows into Loch Dochfour and the River Ness.

#2 - Slip Jig: Hydro Ness
The tune is derived from the rhythmic beats that the 2 big Archimedes Screws of Hydro Ness make as they are turned by the force of the River Ness flowing through them.
