about

Part 1 - Badenoch Folk Tales

Born and bred Badenoch folk tales - many direct from local storytellers as far back as the 1950s. You’ll hear about a man who thinks he’s a hen, a witch turning into a hare, children turning into swans, a church bell that flies, a pig that hunts and piper that plays for 40 years in the underground world of the faeries!

- Cluny MacPherson & The Hen Wife
- Loch Insh & the Swan Children of Lir
- The Witch of Nuide
- The Adventures of Seumas Dail Chaorain - Part 1
- The Adventures of Seumas Dail Chaorain - Part 2
- The Piper & the Faeries - Part 1
- The Piper & the Faeries - Part 2

Researched and recorded as part of the BADENOCH THE STORYLANDS app, a self-guided touring aid, showcasing the very best that the local heritage of the culturally rich region of Badenoch has to offer. The app is available to download now from Google and Apple app stores. Access to the app and all the content is free – just search for "Badenoch The Storylands".

The Stories Series is also available here on Bandcamp as a FREE DOWNLOAD (you can opt to make a donation if you wish)

The 'Badenoch - The Storylands' project:

Hamish has produced a series of tales, legends and historical stories for Badenoch Heritage & the Cairngorms National Park, for the new Badenoch The Storylands App. Over 6 months in the making, Hamish researched, wrote and narrated 18 local stories. These will be released as three spoken word albums, Volume I (Folk Tales), Volume II (People) and Volume III (History). Each story incorporates music from Hamish's Strathspey Trilogy as the soundtrack, and features several local voice actors from Badenoch & Strathspey.
